Cornell University, including roles as Associate Director of University Class Affairs and as Director of the Midwest Office where he was responsible for managing annual giving, major gifts, corporate and foundation relations throughout the Midwest.
Northwestern University, where he served as Director of the Great Teachers $30M endowment campaign and as Director of Development for the Undergraduate College.
Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, as Vice President for Enterprise Advancement he was responsible for strategic planning, fundraising, and developing innovative programs to reach out to traditional and nontraditional constituencies. Jim was part of the executive team that developed and structured funding for the online learning program for the school.
Healthcare:
Advocate Health Care, as vice president for development, communications and public affairs for the bioethics center.

Goodwill Industries of Metropolitan Chicago and Northern Illinois, as Executive Director.
